Position Summary

The purpose of the Assistant Vice President of Business Development is to maintain client relationships, develop business opportunities with both new and existing clients, and increase penetration of existing client base from our New York, NY location.

Essential Functions

Client Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and manage comprehensive (360-degree) client relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnership.
  • Oversee project management and ensure progress across all initiatives, proactively identifying and mitigating potential roadblocks.

Product Promotion & Sales Generation

  • Present and promote product offerings with clear articulation of benefits and effective selling strategies.
  • Develop and execute outbound sales pitches to generate new business opportunities by identifying client needs and brand gaps.
  • Proactively follow up on all client inquiries and sales leads, ensuring consistent engagement across all prospects and accounts.
  • Manage new project pipelines from initial client interest through to project confirmation.
  • Translate client briefs into tailored product proposals and solutions.
  • Conduct thorough vetting of new projects by gathering necessary information to qualify opportunities.
  • Coordinate client sampling requests and manage the regulatory review process, including blacklist screenings and compliance assessments.
  • Engage appropriate internal teams to assess product feasibility and secure cross-functional alignment.
  • Provide design and marketing direction to support new project scouting efforts.
  • Coordinate pricing, timelines, and R&D approvals to determine project viability and support go/no-go decisions.
  • Manage internal brief systems (BPR) throughout initiation, execution, and maintenance phases.
  • Lead new project kickoffs with internal stakeholders and ensure clear execution paths.
  • Maintain detailed records of project closures and sales performance, ensuring measurable success tracking.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product development or execution challenges as they arise.

Strategic Planning & Reporting

  • Develop and monitor annual sales budgets for assigned accounts, tracking performance against targets.
  • Create comprehensive three-year sales strategies for key accounts to support sustained growth.
  • Maintain the Global Rolling Budget and ensure the accuracy of the BPR system for effective project tracking.
  • Update internal reporting systems and project trackers consistently.
  • Stay abreast of cosmetic product trends and technical advancements to maintain a broad knowledge base.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis to inform strategic direction and understand brand positioning.
